DONATIONS AND SPONSORSHIP
Overview / Objectives
The Foundation has recently put into place a formal programme
of soliciting or developing sponsor opportunities or donations.
The objective is to establish the basic premise
for large corporations or individual benefactors to contribute
to the Foundation's activities in return for some discreet
and modest commercial opportunities, if necessary. At the
same time, it should be emphasised that the Foundation does
not consider donations to be a traditional sponsorship and
therefore treats each case on an individual basis, depending
on the needs or wishes of the donor.
Patrons - Principles
In principle, the Foundation Council has divided financial
supporters into three categories:
"Gold Patrons"
"Silver Patrons"
"Bronze Patrons"
Current IAAF Partners have the first right
to become a "Patron" and no time limit is placed
on the period of patronage. Where possible, exclusivity in
a product category shall be respected.
Each of these categories is based on a minimum
donaton requirement in principle. For more information, contact
the Foundation Office.
Rights
Where applicable, the Patrons shall be offered certain benefits
or rights in view of their donation. These are not considered
obligatory or limited. As an example, these benefits may include:
Invitations to the World Athletics
Gala;
VVIP invitations to the IAAF World
Championships in Athletics or event of choice;
Identification as a Patron on a composite
page in the quadrennial Official Foundation Report;
Identification on a composite page
in all official books and booklets published by the Foundation;
Plaque of Recognition and diploma
to be presented to each Company offering Patronage;
Foundation Pin for the top Executive
of each Company offering Patronage;
Right to use the Foundation Logo in
company advertising in a discreet manner and with the prior
approval of the Foundation;
Right to be associated with Foundation
projects of choice;
INDIVIDUAL FOUNDATION PROJECTS
Principles of support
to a Project
Companies may support individual Foundation projects, providing
that such Companies, and rights offered, have been approved
by the Foundation, that exclusivity is honoured, and that
no attempt is made to profit from the project. Such rights
will end upon completion of the project and cannot be used
in perpetuity.
No attempt can be made to obtain individual
project support from rival companies in the identified Category
of a Foundation Patron, without Foundation approval in writing

World Athletics

The Gala is not included in the above principles and would
be the subject of a separate negotiation. Those interested
in supporting the Gala should contact the Foundation office.
